Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland 100th Annual General Meeting

On 16th October 2025, the Pharmaceutical Society NI hosted its 100th Annual General Meeting at Society House. The meeting was attended by Pharmaceutical Society NI Council members and staff, Pharmacy Forum NI management board, staff and registrant members who joined in person and online.

Members were provided with updates on the previous year’s performance and current financial status and were given the opportunity to ask questions of the respective panellists on these and other matters.

President of the Council of the Pharmaceutical Society NI, Dr Geraldine O’Hare, updated members on ongoing engagement with a wide range of stakeholders and our colleagues in the Department of Health.

Dr O’Hare advised members that the Health Minister, Minister Nesbitt, has instructed the Department to formally engage with the Pharmaceutical Society NI to explore options for the future sustainability of pharmacy regulation in Northern Ireland.

This work will be undertaken in partnership between the Pharmaceutical Society NI and the Department of Health, and a consultation on future models of regulation for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will take place.

We look forward to progressing this work with the Department and engaging with our registrants going forward. Further communications and updates will inform registrants of this work as it progresses.
