The Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland has joined fellow healthcare regulators and the Professional Standards Authority in a joint statement of intent to support the safe, effective and responsible use of artificial intelligence across health and social care.
As part of this collaboration, regulators will develop shared high-level principles to provide greater consistency and clarity on the use of AI by health and care professionals.
Canice Ward, Chief Executive said:
“AI has the potential to bring real benefits to health and social care. As regulators, we share a responsibility to ensure these technologies are used safely and in ways that maintain public trust.
“This joint statement is an important first step towards a more consistent approach to supporting professionals to use AI responsibly.”
